The kingship of Christ refers to the belief that Jesus Christ is the ruler and sovereign over all creation. It signifies his authority and power as the Son of God and the savior of humanity. Christians believe that Jesus' kingship is not of this world, but rather a spiritual and eternal kingship that transcends earthly boundaries. This concept is central to Christian theology and emphasizes the lordship of Jesus in the lives of believers. **

The German kingship constantly found itself in conflict with the powerful nobles and regional rulers within the Holy Roman Empire. These nobles often sought to assert their own independence and resist the authority of the king, leading to frequent power struggles and conflicts. Additionally, the German kingship also faced challenges from external threats, such as invasions from neighboring kingdoms and conflicts with the papacy over the authority of the Church within the empire. This ongoing struggle for central authority and control within the Holy Roman Empire contributed to the instability and fragmentation of the German kingship. **

Kingship in Germanic tradition was often based on a system of hereditary succession, where the king's power was derived from his lineage and the support of his warriors. In contrast, Christian tradition emphasized the divine right of kings, where the ruler's authority was believed to be granted by God. Additionally, Germanic kings were often seen as war leaders and were expected to lead their warriors in battle, while Christian kings were expected to rule with a sense of justice and mercy, reflecting the teachings of Christianity. Overall, the difference lies in the source of authority and the expectations placed on the king in each tradition. **

According to the biblical account in the Gospel of Matthew, Herod was informed by the Magi that a new king of the Jews had been born, which led him to order the massacre of all male infants in Bethlehem. This act of infanticide was a ruthless attempt to eliminate any potential rival to his throne and maintain his grip on power. Herod's fear of losing his kingship drove him to commit this heinous act in an effort to secure his position as the sole ruler. **
